Castro Theatre

David began his role as a staff organist at the Castro Theatre in 1978, following the removal of the original Robert Morton organ and prior to the installation of the Wurlitzer. During the 1970s, a Conn 651 was used until the Taylor family provided the Mighty Wurlitzer. In 1984, after Elbert Lachelle’s retirement, David became the senior staff organist. Before the 2020 pandemic, he played nightly intermissions, except for two nights a week at Stanford Theatre, with assistance from organists Warren Lubich, Harry Garland, and Mark Putterbaugh.
